Purpose of the Position

The engineering team at Thorlabs Measurement Systems designs, develops, and maintains products and systems for the metrology market. This position plays a critical role in bridging the gap between design engineering and the production floor by improving designs, documentation, and quality control for existing assemblies and components. While this position is based in Sparta, NJ, up to 10% travel may be required to customer locations and other Thorlabs sites.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to :

• Serves as the primary engineering contact for the production team, providing technical support and troubleshooting as required.
• Identifies, prioritizes, and implements improvements to existing designs and assembly processes.
• Maintains and improves product documentation, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly procedures.
• Coordinates with design engineers to correct manufacturing print errors and initiate engineering change orders.
• Provides training and guidance to assembly personnel on updated processes, documentation, and inspection techniques.
• Assists with prototype builds or new product introductions to ensure manufacturability and smooth transition to production.
• Ensures feedback from production and inspection is clearly communicated and integrated into engineering documentation
• Develops and executes inspection processes for in-house machined components and assembled products.
• Audits and documents assembly processes to ensure adherence to established methods and standards.

Salary range for this position is $70,000 - $94,000 depending on experience
