The Georgia Tech Library invites applications for a flexible and innovative librarian to join us as a Metadata Librarian. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Content, Access and User Services, this person will provide strategic and technical guidance on cataloging and metadata practices for the Georgia Tech Library’s physical and digital collections. Excellent analytical skills, sound judgment, proactive communication skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities in a dynamic environment are required for success in this position. Applicants should be eager to shape change and should have an interest in the evolving roles of research libraries in the changing landscape of higher education.
Position :
The Georgia Tech Library seeks a collaborative and customer-oriented librarian to take the lead role in developing strategic cataloging and metadata initiatives for the Library. This person provides strategic leadership, consultation, training, and expertise in cataloging in a variety of metadata schemas for resources in all formats. Additionally, the Metadata Librarian works collaboratively with other personnel in the Library as well as with others outside the Library. This person will help provide long-term strategies to deal with MARC and non-MARC metadata initiatives and provide direction for staff in techniques and new methodologies, such as RDA and BIBFRAME. The overarching goal is to optimize discovery for scholarly content, owned or licensed by Georgia Tech and available through Open Access and cooperative arrangements.

Faculty Status :
The position will be appointed as a member of the Academic Faculty of the Georgia Tech Library, is non-tenure track and is subject to the review and promotion process for all Georgia Tech librarians and archivists. As a member of the Georgia Tech Library Faculty, the incumbent will have an effort distribution of 80% excellence in assigned duties, 10% scholarship, and 10% professional service to the Library profession or the Institute. The librarian in this position must participate actively in professional and scholarly activities including Library, Institute and professional committees, research and publication.
Salary and rank commensurate with credentials and experience. This is a full-time faculty appointment.
