We are working with a manufacturing equipment distributor in the Rancho Cucamonga, CA area seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Director of Operations to take full ownership of their operational lifecycle. This is a crucial leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient, profitable, and seamless flow of large-scale manufacturing equipment from off-site global manufacturers directly through to final customer installation and ongoing service. You will work with customers to ensure needs are met to the highest degree.
Core Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Global Supply Chain & Risk Management :
Lead all inbound logistics for high-value capital equipment, including international freight, customs clearance, duties, and coordinating specialized heavy haul / rigging transport .
Maintain robust, results-focused relationships with external equipment manufacturers / vendors to ensure production schedules, quality control, and shipping requirements are consistently met.
Implement and manage quality assurance (QA) and inspection protocols to mitigate defects and shipping risks before equipment leaves the factory.
Field Service & Complex Project Execution :
Direct the Field Service and Installation Teams , overseeing the safe, expert, and timely delivery, installation, commissioning, and final testing of equipment at customer sites.
Establish project management methodologies for complex installations, ensuring consistent communication and minimizing site delays and cost overruns.
Strategically manage parts inventory, warranty claims, and technical support to maximize technician utilization and profitability from service contracts.
Operational Excellence & Financial Control :
Develop, own, and manage the operations budget, with a core focus on controlling logistics costs (., freight rates, demurrage, detention).
Utilize ERP and WMS systems to optimize inventory accuracy, streamline order fulfillment, and provide real-time tracking for high-value assets.
Establish and report on critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) , including On-Time-Delivery (OTD), installation cycle time, and cost variance against budget.
Compliance & Safety Leadership :
Ensure absolute compliance with all international trade, import / export regulations, and all site safety (OSHA) standards for field personnel and transport partners.
Required Qualifications
Experience : 7+ years in progressive operations, supply chain, or service management leadership. Must demonstrate a strong track record of managing a complex, non-standard logistics network and / or directing project-based field service operations .
Skills : Exceptional vendor negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills . Demonstrated ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets. Proficiency with ERP / WMS systems is essential.
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related technical field.
