Description : Department includes a cardiovascular operating room. Current team consists of various experienced professionals. There are two CVOR suites with an average of 1-3 cases per day depending on the type of case. Common cases include open hearts (CABG, valves, aneurysms), thoracotomies, VATS, convergents, AAA, carotids, ION robotic cases, ECMO, and Impella 5.5 procedures. Scrubbing is not required for RNs. A charge nurse is available for all shifts. OR techs are present in the department. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. The unit operates primarily on Monday to Friday from 0645 to 1515. On-call scheduling is coordinated by the CV RNs as a group. Call requirements include being available 1-2 times per week for weeknight shifts and every 2-3 weekends. Response time for call is within 15 minutes. 8-hour reprieve shifts are provided for post-call, and a sleep room is available. Staff may need to float to other areas as helping hands or 1 : 1 sitters during low volume periods. If a staff member refuses to float during low volume, it is considered supplemental time off. Scrub color and dress code are provided. Unit-specific orientation consists of multiple days of clinical and module training. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the facility. Requests for time off should be submitted upfront, with limitations on additional requests.
