Summary
Independent professional caliber and technical engineering work requiring application of standard engineering principles and procedures.
Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision receiving instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features; assistance furnished on unusual problems. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its limited supervisory responsibility and lack of policy interpretation, and by its emphasis on independent fully competent application of standard engineering principles to engineering problems having clear and specified objectives, interpretation of data, and requiring investigation of a limited number of variables.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited educational institution or similarly accredited non-US institution, and four (4) years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility, OR Master's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited educational institution or similarly accredited non-US institution, and three (3) years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility.
Certifications or Licenses
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent and possess a proficient knowledge of software utilized in the engineering discipline as required by the individual department. Proficiency in specialized software may be required. Independently perform more complex engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Exercise judgment in decision making related to selection of engineering alternatives, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Work Environment
Work may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions. Work may require exposure to hazardous conditions and noxious chemicals. Work may require performance of tasks in extreme heat and confined areas.
