Position summary

Our client is currently seeking a full-time Project Manager to manage asset management operations on a comprehensive roadway maintenance project(s) in Memphis, TN . This role involves planning work, scheduling / managing crews, roadway repair analysis, preparing project report submissions, interfacing with government clients, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will drive revenue growth and manage financial performance, with a strong understanding of how operational decisions impact project profitability. A technical background is preferred but not required. Strong leadership in dynamic environments, meticulous organizational skills, and adaptive problem-solving abilities are essential. The role requires building and leading effective teams across office environments and project sites, with a focus on growth, teamwork, and maintaining momentum in changing environments.

Seniority Level : Mid-Level to Senior Manager

  • Project Field (65%) : Outside environment around highway / facility infrastructure
  • Client Office (10%) : Government-style professional offices within near proximity to project office
  • Construction / Maintenance Offices (15%) : Project office compatible with industry standard for construction field offices
  • Divisional Project Sites (5%) : Multiple sites through region and U.S.

  • Responsibilities

  • Lead contract operations on roadway maintenance, repair, and construction operations
  • Manage project office and field operations
  • Coordinate financial planning and project budget projections to assist senior managers
  • Track and report maintenance contract performance relative to plan, contract, and targets
  • Collaborate with Regional / Project Managers to develop short-term and long-term project maintenance / repair plans
  • Perform analysis to improve field efficiency and safety
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for presentation to Client and Corporate operations centers
  • Required Experience

  • Highly efficient organizational skills in a multi-faceted long-term project environment
  • Minimum 10 years experience with roadway maintenance, project management, team leadership, or direct client-facing responsibilities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an ABET-accredited university
  • Ability to rapidly develop a competent understanding of technical roadway maintenance specifications
  • Ability to lead, direct, and manage field maintenance crews and office staff
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated rigor
  • Effective communicator at all professional levels, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage project field emergencies 24 / 7
  • Ability to analyze field data and prepare reports and projections
  • Working knowledge of short- and long-term contract budgeting and forecasting
  • Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with DOT contract operations
  • PE certificate with reciprocity
  • Engineering / field operations professional experience
  • Military / Veteran or Law Enforcement leadership experience
  • Bachelors Degree in engineering, construction project management or related
  • Understand roadway maintenance and repair specifications
  • Technical experience with earthworks, landscaping, road construction, bridge maintenance, stormwater drainage maintenance
  • Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, some college courses required with degree preferred
  • Knowledge of administrative activities
  • Knowledge of phone and messaging systems
  • Competency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational planning
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage workloads
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and upgrade skills as needed
  • Neat and legible handwriting
  • Basic math skills including fractions, percent, and ratios
  • Ability to read and understand manuals, plans, specifications and follow prescribed formats
  • Ability to understand multi-step instructions
  • Self-starter who can work independently
  • Dependable and highly organized with maturity, discretion, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Willingness to travel within the state (up to 25%) and occasionally outside state
  • Employment Type and Compensation

    Full-time, typically 5 days a week with possible weekend and nighttime work. Must be flexible to respond to emergency weather events and client emergencies.
