About The Position
ID : 72077824 Shift : Days Varies, days / evenings; 36 hrs / week Description : Unit Managerswho are responsible for managing AssistantUnitManagers, Registered Nurses and related support staff assigned to a specialty critical care, specialty care or non-specialty patient careunits. This position oversees the day-to-dayunitoperations and assumes 24-hour responsibility.UnitManagers will supervise and direct the work of others; assign, review, and evaluate, work of assigned nursing and support staff; prepare and / or sign work performance evaluations; handles disciplinary and hiring and firing actions; prepare schedules and approve time off.POSITION direction, supervises a patient care unit at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and all staff assigned to a single patient care unit within a service line; performs related duties as required.This position is responsible for managing and supervising a large staff of Assistant Unit Managers, and Registered Nurses and related support staff assigned to a specialty critical care, specialty care or non-specialty patient care units including the day-to-day operations and assumes 24 hour responsibility. Unit Manager is distinguished from Nurse Supervisor in that the latter is responsible for a small nursing program, department or service and staff. Further distinguished from the Assistant Unit Manager series as this classification has full responsibility for the management and budgetary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of a unit. Positions report to a Clinical Director II and the Associate Chief Nursing Officer.POSITION DUTIES AND may include but are not limited to the following : 1. Supervises and directs the work of others; assigns, reviews and evaluates work of assigned nursing and support staff; prepares and / or signs work performance evaluations; handles disciplinary and hiring and firing actions; prepares schedules and oversees control of staff scheduling and payroll time and attendance processing; approves time off.2. Oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care by assuring assignments are made on the basis of knowledge, skills and competency level with consideration for the needs of each patient.3. Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety initiatives, environmental and infection control and prevention standards; monitors and ensures compliance with regulations and facility policies and procedures; provides training and technical guidance as needed.4. Develops monthly schedules; ensures adequate daily staffing to meet fluctuating census needs; makes adjustments as needed to maintain budget.5. Establishes objectives of care and standards of practice; conducts clinical rounds to monitor patient care quality; discusses plans with physicians, other professional disciplines, patients andfamilies; investigates and facilitates documentation of unusual occurrences and reports risk management issues.6. Develops and prepares unit budget; assesses and recommends budget requirements for assigned unit; monitors human and material resource utilization, creates reports, manages and reconciles budget and explains budget variances; controls overtime.7. Ensures requirements with regulatory and accreditation requirements; develops policies, procedures and standards of care practice; develops survey responses, action plans and survey readiness processes and systems.8. Monitors patient satisfaction surveys, develops and implements strategies for improvement; makes recommendations; participates in employee engagement; supports and implements hospital initiatives.9. Oversees Nurse Educators instruction of staff in technical nursing skills such as the administration of medications, competencies, supplies and equipment; conducts staff meetings.10. Ensures preservation of patient rights and privacy laws and standards; resolves and processes patient complaints and / or grievances within mandated timeframes and procedures.11. Ensures that staff has necessary nursing skills to perform duties; collaborates with Education Services.12. Oversees the development and implementation of orientation programs; instructs and assigns new employees to others for orientation and training, in-services, and education programs; ensures staff attend required in-services and education, instruction and orientation and maintains compliance with standards of care and facility policies and procedures, license and unit based certification requirements.13. Reviews and analyzes observations and nursing interpretation of patient data and condition; compares outcomes to benchmark information develops and implements and monitors performance improvement projects and initiatives.14. Prepares letters, documents, reports, and other correspondence.15. Performs professional nursing duties as needed.16. Provides vacation and temporary relief as required Submission requirements : Required experience : 4+ years of nursing experience - requiredALL certs Licenses activeNICU experience a PLUSAt least 1+ year of recent / current Supervisor / Interim experience in Labor Delivery - requiredMSN or BSN + MA in Healthcare Administration - requiredIDEALcandidate will have at least '5' years of nursing experience with '2' or more years of supervisory experience in acute care facilityProfile History going back at least 3 years, if applicable to AssignmentSkills ChecklistAt least '1' supervisor reference included.... 2nd to be obtained during onboardingLicenses CertificationsCOVID Vaccination card w / booster, if applicable (AHA),AWHONN,NRP,BLS (AHA) Guaranteed Hours : Contract Weeks : 91
