Job Description :
\nJoin Jefferson County Health Center as a dedicated Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical unit, where you will provide comprehensive patient care using the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Your role will include guiding patients and their families through education, coordinating activities of ancillary staff, and maintaining professional nursing standards. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes while working in a supportive hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities :
\n \n
Deliver direct patient care in a fast-paced Med Surg setting.\nAssess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized care plans.\nMonitor patient responses to treatments and adjust care as needed.\nEducate patients and their families about health conditions and care procedures.\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.\nMaintain accurate documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.\nAdhere to infection control, safety standards, and hospital protocols.\n\n
Qualifications : \n \n
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.\nCurrent Iowa RN licensure (underline and bold as required).\nBLS and ACLS certifications (via American Heart Association).\nExperience in a Med Surg setting preferred but not required.\nStrong organizational and communication skills.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\n\n
Preferred Education & Experience :
\n \n
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.\nPrevious Med Surg experience highly encouraged.\nFamiliarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.\nDemonstrated commitment to patient-centered care.\n\n
Certification & License Requirements :
\n \n
Current Iowa RN license \nBLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association-issued card\nACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – American Heart Association-issued card\nAdditional certifications such as TNCC, PALS, NRP are a plus but not mandatory.\n\n
Additional Requirements :
\n \n
Proof of immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, TDaP, COVID-19, Flu vaccination during Flu season).\nNegative 2-step Mantoux and / or QuantiFERON Gold test within the past year.\nPhysical exam within one year of start date.\nValid drug screening and criminal background checks.\nRespiratory Fit Test (with or without provided RFT).\nCompletion of required background and compliance documentation within five business days prior to start date.\n\n
