    📅 Paperwork & Location Requirements

  • All paperwork due : WEDNESDAY at NOON MST the week before the assignment start
  • Housing requirement : Permanent address must be 25+ miles from the facility

    • Department Overview

  • Typical Daily Caseload :

    • First rounds are busiest (inhalers) – may start with 13 patients and drop to 5

  • Staffing levels fluctuate based on patient volume
  • May change floors after initial rounds
  • Ventilator Ratio :

    • Normal : 1 RT per 1–6 vents

  • COVID : was up to 1 : 8 vents

    • Patient Population

  • ICU : 15 beds
  • Neonates : Only low acuity (e.g., CPAP); higher acuity neonates are stabilized and transported
  • Pediatrics : Dedicated peds floor; high-flow NC used

    • Coverage Areas

  • Primary : Inpatient
  • Exclusions : No outpatient or sleep lab coverage required for travelers
  • ER & ICU Assignments : Fixed for the day if assigned
  • May precept : Travelers may become preceptors

    • Required Skills & Duties

  • Must-Have Skills : None required at this time
  • ABGs : Yes – drawn with EPOC (competency provided)
  • EKGs : Performed as needed
  • Intubation : RTs assist only
  • Other Duties :

    • Assist with bronchs (must know bronch adapter use)

  • No ART lines
  • Reporting critical labs promptly
  • Emphasis on hand hygiene

    • Team Structure & Support

  • Leadership :

    • Manager : On-site M–F

  • Charge / Lead RT : Present on every shift

    • Scheduling & Shifts

  • Self-Scheduling : Allowed (started April 2023)
  • Block Scheduling : Preferred, flexible for travelers
  • Schedule Duration : 12-week blocks (may have initial mismatch)
  • Shifts : 0530–1800 (days & nights)
  • Staffing :

    • Days : 4–5 RTs

  • Nights : 3–4 RTs
  • Solo RT : Not expected

    • Weekend & Holiday Requirements

  • Weekends : Every other
  • Holidays : No set requirement; may be asked if staffing needs allow

    • Other Requirements

  • Call / Standby : None
  • Floating : Within hospital as needed
  • Transport : RTs assist; use Parapack for transports

    • Dress Code

  • Color : Royal Blue
  • Logo : Must wear CRMC-logoed shirts

    • Equipment Used

  • Vents : Puritan Bennett 980, 2 Draegers (nursery)
  • CPAP / BiPAP : Philips, DreamStations, V30s (being repaired), V60s
  • High Flow : Optiflow, V60s with HFT option
  • Transport : Parapack
  • Other : EV300
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula : Used (especially in peds)

    • Providers On-Site

  • Hospitalist / Intensivist : Always on call or in-house 24 / 7

    • Orientation

  • Length : 2 shifts (department-specific)
