ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Plant Mechanic to support operations at our Ft. Totten Plant located in NE, Washington D.C. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. Also maintain, install and repairs mechanical equipment and machinery. This position typically works from 6 : 00 a.m. until 6 : 00 p.m. Overtime will be required and shift may be adjusted for business needs

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

• Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
• Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs and adjustments. Reports required repairs or other findings to Area Manager.
• Adheres to all safety, environmental and company policies and procedures in completing daily tasks, and completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion.
• Completes work orders in a timely manner; installing, repairing and fabricating materials out of metal; ensuring availability and functioning of required items; and ensuring safety and resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape.
• Performs the appropriate plant equipment inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance for both fixed and mobile equipment.
• Responsible for preparing and welding steel and aluminum structures, appendages and equipment.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment including handling welding repairs.
• Conducts routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment and report findings to Area Manager.
• Prepares Plant reports as required and maintain an inventory of regularly used repair supplies or equipment.
• Assists personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
• Responds to emergency situations as needed and / or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Performs required emergency repairs on production equipment required to address plant breakdowns.
• Performs repairs as required on plant processing equipment and performs maintenance on plant grounds as required.
• Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety.
• Rebuild or fabricate parts; repair electrical equipment.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE 'RE LOOKING FOR

Education : High school diploma or GED (required).

Field of Study Preferred : Technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field (preferred).

Required Work Experience : Minimum 3 years experience
