Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

HOURS OF WORK : Sunday 12 : 45pm to 5 : 15pm, Monday 12 : 00pm to 8 : 00pm, Tuesday 2 : 00pm to 8 : 00pm
LOCATION : Loussac Library; 3600 Denali Street 2nd floor, Anchorage

Assist patrons in finding and using library resources using print and electronic sources. Provide reference and readers' advisory services to youth, parents, teachers, and caregivers. Develop and review library communications to the public. Perform search strategies and bibliographic retrieval. Assist department with programs and projects as needed. Attend department meetings and required trainings. Communicate by email and phone. Establish and maintain effective relations with coworkers, the public, and vendors; treat everyone with honesty, respect, and fairness. Assist in APL's equity and inclusion efforts. Ensure excellent customer service and a positive user experience while being an efficient member of the team. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and three (3) years professional experience related to the position.

Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory background check. A background check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment. The background check will also require fingerprinting; the processing fee of $47.00 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable) is the responsibility of the selected applicant and must be accomplished before beginning work. All required certifications and licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.
