DESCRIPTION
UC San Diego Health's Moores Cancer Center is one of only 57 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation, recognized for excellence in cancer research, advanced patient care, and community outreach. The Advanced Practice Provider Manager leads and oversees a team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across multiple oncology specialties at the Moores Cancer Center. This role blends clinical expertise with strategic leadership, ensuring outstanding patient-centered care, compliance with clinical standards, and continuous advancement of APP practice models.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide operational and clinical leadership for APPs in the outpatient oncology setting, ensuring safe, high-quality, and evidence-based patient care.
Collaborate with senior leadership, nursing, and physician partners to develop and implement Best Practice Models for APP utilization across service lines.
Oversee APP recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and performance management.
Ensure APPs operate within scope of practice and comply with all regulatory, credentialing, and quality standards.
Manage staffing levels and resource allocation to support patient access and clinical productivity goals.
Partner with Finance, Human Resources, and Quality & Safety to align operations with organizational priorities and budget parameters.
Serve as an expert consultant in legislative, compliance, and accreditation matters related to advanced practice.
Mentor APPs to foster professional growth, clinical excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Contribute to institutional committees, quality improvement initiatives, and strategic planning efforts impacting APP practice.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies.
NP : Current California RN license, Nurse Practitioner license, and national certification as Nurse Practitioner (AANP, ANCC, NCC, PNCB, AACN).
PA : Current California Physician Assistant (PA) license and current PA Certification from NCCPA.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience.
Advanced experience in clinical specialty supervising APPs.
Demonstrated knowledge of state and national regulatory requirements.
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to convey complex clinical information in a clear and concise manner.
Strong knowledge of human resources practices and policies in a represented provider environment. Ability to direct, organize, motivate and mentor staff.
Strong operational management skills.
Advanced knowledge of software and specialized applications used by advanced practice providers.
Ability to analyze and interpret data, develop reports and action plans.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment. Due to advanced practice credentialing eligibility, clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years gained through school or work experience.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range : $168,800 - $341,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent : $80.84 - $163.41
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
