TRAILS Ministries is a holistic, faith-based approach to assisting those impacted directly or indirectly by the trauma of incarceration. This process begins during an individuals incarceration, for both themselves and their families, and continues through the redeeming processes of restoration and reunification.

Job Purpose :
The role of a driver is to provide transportation to program participants in a comfortable, safe and timely manner. Driving duties include establishing and building rapport with participants, be actively involved in the community exploration / service opportunities as well as record and communicate important notes regarding participants involved in the program. TRAILS Ministries offers transportation assistance for participants in multiple programs and is a vital role to program success.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Responsible for picking up assigned participants at their respective locations and transporting them safely to assigned program site
- Maintain effective communication with participants in house family supports to ensure every effort has been made to pick up assigned participants
- Arrive promptly at assigned pick up and program site; times may vary based on activities and program schedule
- Responsible for every person occupying the van by ensuring everyone is seated and properly restrained with seat belts
- Maintain a positive, calm attitude and establish authority with the participants demonstrating respect and building relationship
- Assure that participants are being released safely to the correct person(s) and / or location.
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all areas of the van using COVID-19 guidelines
- Responsible for fueling up vehicles and / or ensuring adequate fuel for the next driver
- Communicate the vans registration, inspection, and insurance current status; and that weekly maintenance on all fluids, and tire maintenance is complete
- Report all program incidents to Program Coordinator(s)
- Report any / all noticed vehicle issues
- May include being asked to remain present at programming when not transporting as supportive staff on site
- Adhere and promote all TRAILS Driving Polices (as outlined in the Handbook)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
