Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical Services Operating Room position requiring Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and strong perioperative skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital-based Surgical Services environment with 12 ORs, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU baysHandle a diverse surgical population including urology, neuro, ortho, robotic, general, podiatry, and ENT casesPatient ratios include OR 1 : 1, Pre-Op 1 : 2, PACU Phase I 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, and PACU Phase II 1 : 2-3 based on acuityShifts are 10-hour variable with call required : typically one overnight per week (7p-7a) and every 3rd weekend (Fri 1500 - Mon 0700)Floating is required to Pre-Op, PACU, or other peri-op services as helping handsUses Epic for charting; Omnicell and Alaris equipmentWeekend and holiday rotation is required, with 2 out of 4 major holidays expectedPerform surgical nursing care for a complex and varied perioperative populationCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, anesthesia, nurse clinicians, techs, and support staffOne-week facility and unit orientation is providedCall-back response time is 15 minutes with on-site sleep accommodations availableFree parking is provided and scrubs are suppliedPermanent staff must wait one full year before returning as travelersRequirements
Active SD or compact RN licenseCompletion of a nursing program approved by a board of nursingValid BLS and ACLS certificationsMinimum 2 years of Operating Room experience in a Level 1 or 2 trauma settingSurgical experience in a tertiary care center requiredAbility to provide ICU-level care in PACU as neededEpic experience preferred; approval needed if not experiencedMust live more than 100 miles from facility (no local travelers)First-time travelers are not typically accepted and require special approvalBenefits
