Position Summary :

Shift : Days and Every Other Weekend

Responsible for assisting the Laboratory Director in the management and supervision of the laboratory through planning, coordinating, implementing, evaluating and improving the quality of patient care delivered. Expected to maintain confidentiality. Coordinates and facilitates technical activities of the areas managed. Monitors performance quality as required by licensing, accrediting and regulatory agencies. Assists in the daily planning and organization of work activities to achieve maximum efficiency. Maintains teamwork and communication with the physicians, nursing staff, laboratory staff and administration by providing internal and external customer satisfaction and appropriate resource management. Must have knowledge of the medical necessity requirements as defined by CHFA and the HSA compliance plan. Performs moderate complexity and high complexity laboratory testing on clinical specimens (blood, urine, other body fluids and / or tissue). Works only in those laboratory sections consistent with the employee's State licensure. Works routinely in Immunohematology and / or Microbiology as licensed. Participates in training of new staff and of students. Maintains adequate level of supplies to ensure continuity of laboratory activities. Capable of working without direct supervision. Work customarily involves any testing which may require a high degree of theoretical knowledge and technical expertise in licensed area(s).
