Job Summary :
The Controls Engineer provides technical support for facility Operational Technology (OT) systems, equipment, and controls projects. This role may participate directly or assist project teams responsible for designing, acquiring, installing, or upgrading critical systems and equipment used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The Controls Engineer will also support contract manufacturing teams with process development, optimization, and deviation investigations.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide technical assistance for OT equipment and controls systems.
Support OT controls projects, including facility / utility expansions, compliance upgrades, cost reduction initiatives, contract manufacturing, process improvements, and construction projects.
Guide and train maintenance controls technicians in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of controls systems.
Provide engineering support to contract manufacturing teams, including recipe creation, process development, and capital project support.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international agencies.
Manage or participate in capital and expense facility projects in accordance with project management guidelines, including scheduling, budgeting, documentation, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Collaborate effectively with internal departments (Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Validation, Finance) and external stakeholders (regulatory agencies, A&E firms, construction firms, vendors, equipment manufacturers).
Develop detailed specifications and RFQs for contractors, A&E firms, or equipment manufacturers.
Maintain engineering documentation in compliance with regulatory standards, SOPs, and accepted engineering practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
Strong knowledge of OT systems, PLCs, DCS, and industrial automation.
Experience in project management for capital and expense controls projects.
Familiarity with pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for controls systems.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Strong documentation and specification development skills.
Experience with process development and optimization in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication and training abilities.
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
