Medical Stepdown is a unit that specializes in the care of acutely ill medical patients. We primarily focus on those suffering from respiratory failure and / or other general medical problems that are acutely ill.
- Patient population may include : Bipaps, High Flow Oxygen, Tracheostomies, and Ventilated Tracheostomies, Respiratory Failure, Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Alcohol Withdrawal, Drug Overdose, Severe Sepsis, End of Life Care
- This unit requires excellent critical thinking skills and quick decision making skills
- Close relationship with pulmonologist
- Due to the diverse nature this unit provides numerous educational opportunities for our coworkers.
- 22– patient bed unit
- RN ratio 3-4 patients, with tech support
- 24 / 7 Leadership support
- Collaborate daily with Care Management team, PT and OT, dieticians and pharmacists Qualifications : Education & Licensure : Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program Must hold and maintain a current RN license for the hiring state or hold a compact nursing license Comply with all state nursing board requirements Physical Requirements : Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs regularly Prolonged standing and walking throughout shifts Capable of gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting as needed Certifications : ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) — Required BLS (Basic Life Support) — Required or must complete within 30 days of hire Additional unit-specific certifications as required, with timelines for acquisition Interested?
