Job Location : Lubbock, TX

Shift : 7a-7p

Status : Full Time

Hours per Pay-period : 72

Description

Ideal candidate will be licensed RN with a minimum of 24 months nursing experience in acute care setting. Strong ICU experience required.

The Resource Pool RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Gives professional nursing care to patients on each of the Critical Care units. Floats between Medical Intensive Care Unit, Trauma and Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Burn Intensive Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.

The tasks and responsibilities include :

Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.

Prioritizes patient care based on acuity level and available resources.

Assists physician during examination, treatment and procedures.

Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs.

Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

Instructs and educates patients and families.

Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Provides age and culturally appropriate care.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Qualifications

Required Job Qualifications include :

Current licensure as an RN in Texas or eligible

Must be currently working in a critical care unit with a minimum of two years of experience. (EXTERNAL REQ)

Must be currently working in a critical care unit with a minimum of one year of experience. (INTERNAL REQ)

Current CPR certification from American Heart Association.

Current ACLS Provider certification.

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.

Ability to perform work that requires walking, sitting and standing most of the time while on duty. Occasional lifting or patients with assistance is required.

Detailed and individualized orientation to the following units :

Medical ICU

Trauma Surgical ICU

Burn ICU

Cardiovascular ICU

Emergency Center

PACU

Cardiac OPS

Endoscopy

Float Pool Commitment :

Must be willing to float to all the ICUs, EC, PACU, COPS, and Endoscopy.

Must be willing to work a minimum of 72 hours (6-12 hour shifts) in a 2 week period.

Flexibleself-scheduling once orientation period is completed.

Work 24 hours of either week-end, holiday or off hours each pay-period (No M-F 7a-3-p).

Work 2 major Holidays and 1 minor Holiday annually
