Job Title : Structural Steel Superintendent / Estimator
Overview :
We are seeking a motivated Structural Steel Superintendent / Estimator to support both field operations and office-based estimating efforts. This role is ideal for an experienced ironworker or field leader who is ready to transition into the office and take the next step in their career. The primary focus of this position will be steel estimating, take-offs, and supporting project planning , while still leveraging field knowledge to ensure accuracy and constructability.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform quantity take-offs , material lists, and detailed steel estimates
Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate bids
Assist with budgeting, labor forecasting, and pricing
Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure constructability and proper scope coverage
Support pre-construction planning and identify potential risks or discrepancies
Provide field insight to improve estimating efficiency and project execution
Maintain organized estimate files, vendor quotes, and supporting documentation
Occasionally assist with field coordination or site visits as needed
Qualifications :
Strong background as an ironworker, foreman, or superintendent in structural steel
Desire to transition into an office-based estimating role
Knowledge of steel erection methods, materials, and field sequencing
Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
Basic computer skills; familiarity with estimating or take-off software is a plus
Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and eagerness to learn
