Opportunity
As a Structural Engineer you will have the opportunity to :
- Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.
- Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
- Develop recommendations for equipment and materials. Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
- May assist with providing guidance to engineering team members.
- Maintain positive client relations understanding client interests and drivers through effective communication with the project team.
- May assist with business development activities.
- Function as a technical specialist or in a lead role.
- With minimal supervision, apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods.
- Expand knowledge and skill set in area of discipline.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Standards : stay current with departmental design guides, standards, codes, and BV policies; apply knowledge to assigned tasks.Quality / Continuous Improvement : apply BV quality program; provide guidance to others on the project and discipline; support continuous improvement efforts.Engineering Production : prepare complex engineering deliverables; perform complex research and calculations; manage budget, schedule, and quality; evaluate and adapt engineering techniques; review lower-level work; oversee data collection and project data management; lead smaller production teams; act as responsible charge for a project.Project Coordination : actively coordinate with internal / external team members on moderately complex projects.Client Focus : assist in identifying key client interests; communicate these to the project team; support business development on less complex projects.Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology : recognized as a technical specialist; design complete projects within assigned practice areas.People Management : assist with performance management, mentoring, recognition, and corrective actions.Administrative responsibilities may include ensuring policy adherence, approving timesheets and expenses.Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.Minimum of 5 years related work experience.Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records) as required by law.Preferred Qualifications
Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.Excellent written and verbal communications; ability to build relationships with clients.Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable standards for the discipline.Experience interacting with clients and pursuing business opportunities.Ability to think quickly on-site and in front of customers; strong listening and teamwork skills.Experience (Preferred Based on Client Work)
Design of utility-scale electrical transmission systems.Structural design of transmission steel structures and foundations.3D analysis and design software experience with structural steel and concrete.Certifications
Most positions require professional registration or licensure in the designated country, or active pursuit of such registration.
Work Environment
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after 90 days. Location options include multiple U.S. offices; relocation may be available. Salary range : $95,000.00 – $105,000.00.
