American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in an acute care setting requiring at least 3 years of ICU experience and a current CA RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 20-bed ICU and CCU in an acute care hospital settingPatient population includes neuro surgery (craniotomies, carotids, ventriculostomies, ICP monitoring), open heart, post caths, impellas, and balloon pumpsNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 2, may be 1 : 1 depending on acuity12-hour night shifts (7pm-7 : 30am) with every other weekend requiredMust float to IMCU (stepdown) or Observation as neededUses Cerner EMR; experience preferred but not requiredNo CRRT or ECMO; drips (vaso, levophed, norepinephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, propofol, fentanyl, etc.) and vents requiredNurses must read their own cardiac strips (no monitor techs)Required to work holidays in rotation with staff (one major, one minor)Collaborate with in-house hospitalist or intensivist and access to 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy supportCharge nurse and nurse aides are available with support for blood draws, EKGs, and tech dutiesSelf-scheduling is offered but not always guaranteedThree shifts of unit-based orientation provided at startNavy scrubs are required for this assignmentMust pass a dysrhythmia and sterile technique competency test during onboarding; failure may impact assignment eligibilityMust not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted)Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; PALS preferredMinimum 3 years' ICU RN experience requiredExperience with ICU patient populations including neuro and cardiac cases requiredAbility to validate skills for post-cath, balloon pumps, and impella if asked to care for these patientsTwo professional references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsCopy of valid driver's license required for consideration\n Benefits\n
