We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 1-2 years of experience practicing business and / or real estate law to join our growing law firm in Penfield, NY. The ideal candidate should be able to work at a fast pace while paying attention to detail and being organized. The candidate must possess a law degree and be able to bring a high level of professionalism and work ethic with them. Responsibilities and Duties :
- Communicate with clients and provide advice as it relates to business transactions, legal rights and obligations, and compliance with government agencies.
- Draft legal documents and letters in support of client needs and file documents if needed with the appropriate government oversight agency.
- Represent clients before government agencies such as Sales Tax, Department of Labor, State Liquor Authority, and Attorney General.
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
- Maintain compliance with continuing education CLEs and industry standards and practices.
- Oversee liquor license applications as well as business purchases and sales.
- Negotiate settlements of civil and business disputes.
- Communicate with clients, other attorneys, and government employees / officials via writing, e-mail, telephone, and facsimile.
- Research and analyze data, interpret the meaning of information, and communicate the next steps to clients and / or managing attorneys.
- Complete projects on time and accurately record time activities.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with existing clients, and developing new clients through the firm.
- Make presentations and represent the firm in networking groups, events, or opportunities.
- Assist in the supervisory role of legal support staff. Establish and maintain strong interpersonal relationships to develop a constructive and cooperative work environment.
- Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation within the Law Firm.
- Estimate time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity. Monitor and assist in controlling resources and the spending of money.
Qualifications and Skills :
