Job Description
Columbia University’s Strategic Communication master’s program seeks a part-time lecturer to
teach a graduate-level course in Communication for Global Professionals. This course in cross-
cultural communication offers students the specialized knowledge and skills needed to
successfully navigate global organizations in a variety of sectors and industries. Through
lectures and readings of theoretical and empirical work, students deepen their knowledge of
and respect for different cultural orientations, values, attitudes and beliefs and discover how
these variations influence communicative practices across global professional settings. Through
observation, data collection, and analysis students uncover principles that govern
communicative interaction and the social and cultural factors that influence “when to speak
and when not to speak, what to say to whom, when, where, and in what manner.”
