Nature & Purpose of Position :

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES.Provides technical support and maintains audio / video devices and peripherals. Assists with installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all classroom hardware while ensuring optimal system performance.

• With supervision, installs, configures, tests, maintains, and troubleshoots minor level 1 audio / video hardware and software.
• Responds to service requests regarding hardware and software issues.
• Maintains an accurate record of all requests for assistance.
• Provides prompt and accurate information for requests of assistance while maintaining confidentiality.
• Properly routes requests that need further escalation or attention from full time employees and / or supervisor.
• Provides guidance and assistance to co-workers
• Other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements for the Position :

Must be able to work between 15-28 hours per week and will ideally be available Monday – Friday within the hours of 7 am – 10 pm. Several hours of on-the-job training will be required due to the extensiveness of Academic Research & Technologies’ support offerings; therefore, a learning curve is expected. The employee must be willing to accommodate varying situations in addition to possessing the following essential skills :

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Must be a current SHSU student enrolled in six (6) semester hours with a minimum SHSU GPA of 2.5. Must be able to demonstrate basic computer competencies and knowledge. Direct IT job experience, SHSU Lab Assistant experience, or customer service experience preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities would also be acceptable.
