A DV (Domestic Violence) Victim Advocate assists clients or potential clients with the process of filing for an injunction for protection / restraining order.
This position is an on-call position and our volunteers are currently providing this service via a HIPPA compliant video service. In person, when needed and allowed, is located at the Viera courthouse locations or the Women's Center, Melbourne and Titusville Offices. The volunteer will be there to guide clients through the injunction for protection paperwork and provide emotional support during this filling process.
This position is vital to the success of our Victim Services program. We will train you!
You must complete the online (self-paced) 40 hour victim advocacy training as well as a 6 hour zoom / in-person injunction for protection filling training. Than you will be required to shadow at least 4 filings before working independently. We ensure you feel 100% comfortable and trained to be an advocate for victims of domestic violence
Assistance is also needed at the Women’s Center offices with follow up phone calls and data entry.
