The Cardiovascular Surgeon is prepared by education to function independently in the care of the patient requiring surgical evaluation and management for diseases associated with the heart, lungs and lanatomical contents of the thoracic cavity. The surgeon complies with the policies and procedures of the Department of Surgery and of the facility. He / She is directly accountable to the Chief Medical Officer.
His / her role includes but is not limited to the following :
Qualifications : Education / Skills
Graduate of a medical school approved by the American Medical Association is required. Residency training in an ACGME certified Cardiovascular training program is required. Board certification / eligibility in Cardiovascular Surgery required.
Work Experience :
Completion of ACGME certified cardiovascular surgery residency with board eligibility is required.
Certification / Licensure :
Current license to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi required. Member of Forrest General Hospital's active medical staff with privileges to practice required. Be eligible for Forrest General Hospital Malpractice insurance. Required to be eligible for board certification in cardiovascular surgery.
