Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost

DSG | Storbeck Search

Rollins College has retained the executive search firm DSG | Storbeck Search to assist in recruiting its new Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. Please direct all inquiries, nominations, and applications to DSG | Storbeck Search as indicated below.

Position Summary :

Rollins College seeks a forward-thinking, academically distinguished, and student-centered Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost to serve as the institution's chief academic officer and as a strategic partner to the President. As a highly collaborative and inclusive academic leader, the next Provost will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the College, fostering innovation across programs, strengthening interdisciplinary initiatives, enhancing student success, and acting with agility in an increasingly complex and dynamic world.

Rollins College  is one of the best and most distinctive independent, comprehensive, liberal arts colleges in the country. Founded in 1885, Rollins was Florida's first college. Rollins College educates students for global citizenship and responsible leadership, empowering graduates to pursue meaningful lives and productive careers. Today, Rollins serves more than 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students and is distinguished by its award-winning faculty, small class sizes, international learning experiences, and nationally recognized community-based educational programs. The College's 220 faculty teach, mentor, and advise students, supported by 765 full- and part-time staff members who partner in the academic enterprise and embrace their roles as co-educators. The average class size is 17, allowing for an impressive student-to-faculty ratio of 11 : 1. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Rollins among the top two regional universities in the South for more than 30 years. A member of the prestigious Associated Colleges of the South and the Annapolis Group, Rollins offers applied learning of the highest quality with collaborative engagement and a focus on student success.

Set in the residential community of Winter Park, Florida, and just minutes from the city of Orlando, the College's 80-acre lakefront campus is often described as one of the  most beautiful in America . In addition to full-time undergraduate programs in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA), Rollins offers graduate business degree programs through its Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business, and undergraduate and graduate degree programs for working adults through its evening program at the Hamilton Holt School.

Rollins College is poised for a significant leadership transition as  President Grant H. Cornwell  prepares to retire in June 2025 after a decade of transformative service. Succeeding Cornwell is  Dr. Brooke Barnett , who will become the 16th president of Rollins College on July 1, 2025. Barnett brings a wealth of experience from her role as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Butler University, where she championed initiatives that enhanced academic programs and student experiences.

Reporting to the President, the VPAA and Provost (Provost) serves as the chief academic officer, overseeing academic programs, faculty appointments, and research initiatives; facilitating budgetary and institutional planning; and maintaining the academic standards for the College. The Provost guides a talented team of leaders including the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Dean of the Hamilton Holt School, Dean of the Olin Library, Assistant Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, Registrar, and seven directors across faculty development, student success, global initiatives, grants and sponsored research, student-faculty collaborative research, and institutional analytics. The Provost collaborates with the President in the strategic leadership of the Crummer Graduate School of Business and the Rollins Museum of Art, with responsibility for the academic dimensions of those programs. The Provost oversees an annual operating budget of nearly $54 million.

With a strong foundation in liberal arts education, coupled with the comprehensive programs across Crummer and Hamilton Holt, Rollins is poised for continued growth and innovation, and the Provost will play a key role in driving these forward. Given the College's commitments to a student-centered approach and community engagement, paired with an exceptional and dedicated faculty, staff, administration, and Board of Trustees, the Provost will have an optimal foundation from which to shape the future academic vision for Rollins.

The new Provost will have the opportunity to develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy that strengthens Rollins' academic portfolio in a rapidly evolving educational and technological landscape while maintaining the deep traditions and history of the College. The new Provost will be a unifier and will support interschool initiatives between CLA, Crummer, and Hamilton Holt, while also ensuring that each is adequately resourced, supported, and pointed towards success. As a leader of the faculty, the Provost will be a champion of shared governance who values the contributions of faculty and staff in decision-making. The Provost will steward institutional resources strategically and responsibly and will serve as an ambassador for the College in the Winter Park community and beyond, engaging with internal and external stakeholders about the value of a Rollins education.

Rollins College seeks a future-oriented and accomplished administrator who will inspire students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners as Provost. The candidate of choice will bring a highly relational approach, outstanding communication skills, nimbleness, authenticity, self-confidence balanced with humility, integrity of the highest order, a strong work ethic, sound fiscal stewardship, and a clear understanding of the importance and value of the liberal arts in today's higher education landscape.

A terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) is required, along with a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and academic leadership. The ideal candidate will bring an unwavering commitment to the liberal arts, a demonstrated capacity to inspire faculty excellence, and a vision for advancing Rollins' mission to prepare students for meaningful lives as global citizens and responsible leaders.

This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in Florida. Salary will be commensurate with experience and accompanied by a generous benefits package.
