Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Community Outreach, the College Transition Coordinator serves as the liaison between the high schools and career and technology centers across the college's service areas of Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties. Duties include engaging with prospective students, parents, school administrators, and guidance counselors to provide dual credit / dual enrollment services for high school students as well as college enrollment to SCC for graduating seniors. Prepares group presentations to educate parents and students regarding dual enrollment opportunities at the college as well as provides enrollment and program selection assistance, academic and career advising, entrance testing, mentoring and follow up through the enrollment process.
Provides enrollment assistance to prospective dual enrollment students, parents and graduating seniors to include : Career field and program exploration, application process, collecting required documents, conducting applicable testing, and serves as liaison between students and various departments at SCC.
Prepares and conducts classroom presentations and individual appointments with prospective students regarding both dual and traditional enrollment, apprenticeships, work-based learning, financial aid, scholarships, and other topics that support dual enrollment and college transition.
Serves as a liaison between high schools / career centers and SCC regarding the development of applicable curriculum pathways for students to take TAP assessments for seamless transfer post program completion.
Coordinates with guidance departments, admissions counselors, campus directors, and deans to ensure appropriate course offerings are available for students to register.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree and a minimum of 1 year of higher education recruiting experience.
Additional Comments
Evening, weekend and overnight travel will be required as dictated by planned student events.
