With locations in Merritt Island, FL, and Sweetwater, TN, Merritt Precision provides 3D design, scanning, milling, and tooling services to customers with diverse composite needs.
The Quality Assurance Technician ensures all parts produced by Merritt Precision meet or exceed customer specifications and company quality standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of our products through inspection, documentation, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, hands-on experience with composite manufacturing, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.
Requirements : Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-process and final inspections on composite tooling and fabricated components using precision measuring tools and visual standards.
- Verify that all parts meet dimensional, functional, and aesthetic requirements based on customer drawings and specifications.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and organized inspection records and quality documentation.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to identify, document, and resolve nonconformances in real time.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of inspection and measurement equipment.
- Evaluate incoming chemicals and materials to ensure they meet production and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that support consistent, high-quality outcomes.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective / preventive action (CAPA) processes.
- Support internal process audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Uphold compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision.Hands-on experience using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, Barcol impressor, and other measuring tools.Familiarity with composites manufacturing processes, including lamination and gelcoat finishing.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and / or inspection reporting software.Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with clear documentation practices.Preferred
Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.Knowledge of CMM inspection, 3D scanning equipment, or related metrology tools.Prior experience in aerospace, marine, or advanced manufacturing environments.Why Join Merritt Precision?
