SCELP was founded in 1987 to meet the critical need for specialized non-profit legal services for environmental protection in South Carolina. As a non-profit environmental law firm, we use our legal expertise to protect land, water and communities across South Carolina. Our team of nine attorneys are active in courts across South Carolina, building upon SCELP’s long track record of successful legal advocacy.
Position Description
SCELP is seeking a capable and organized legal assistant to support our team of environmental attorneys located in four offices across the state. This position is ideal for a mid-level legal professional.
The legal assistant will support our attorneys by organizing and maintaining legal files, assisting with court filings, drafting basic legal documents, and preparing case documents. Responsibilities include scheduling depositions, managing deadlines, and coordinating communication between offices.
The legal assistant will work in coordination with our attorneys, ensuring all necessary information for hearings, litigation, mediation, and other proceedings are meticulously prepared and organized. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must.
The right candidate will also possess the ability to take a proactive role in organizational operations by leading on efficient data management, project management, and electronic filing systems.
