Overview

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.Working across the globe, V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. Aligned around a shared purpose, our $3.9B company and 16,000 people work alongside our clients, here and abroad, to tackle their most complex challenges with integrity, respect, responsibility, and professionalism.As a Journeyman Installer, you’re responsible for the physical installation, integration, and testing of IT and facility infrastructure components. This role performs hands-on installation of structured cabling, racks, power systems, network equipment, and supporting hardware. You will ensure all work is completed to specification, adheres to safety standards, and meets compliance requirements.Position may be located at Cheyenne Mountain SFS, Peterson SFB, and/or Schriever SFB.

This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:

  • Assists engineers and technicians with placement of infrastructure components, pre-configuration.
  • Performs tasks involving physical labor at installation sites to aid daily operations.
  • Assists in the movement of equipment, racks, boxes, and pallets.
  • Assists in cleanup and restoration of facilities to preinstall conditions. Dispose of waste materials.
  • Performs site preparation and implementation activities required to implement approved ISP / OSP solution.
  • Assists in the installation of ISP / OSP cabling, racks / cabinets, and equipment.
  • Follows processes and procedures provided by management or lead engineers.
  • May assist in test and validation activities as directed. Performs cable dressing, labeling, and documentation.
  • Assists in restoration activities to return site to previous condition before project work.
  • Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
  • Tracks task status to provide updates to management or lead engineers.
  • Updates reports or task logs as directed. Performs work under supervision but has the capability to work independently to complete complex assignments; may provide guidance and direction to junior laborers or technicians.

Material & Equipment Directly Used:

  • Proficient in the ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and AutoCAD drawings, specifically rack elevation drawings and floor plans to install data network equipment hardware, power supplies, UPS, and wireless access points.
  • Proficient with writing reports and updating data in MS Excel and Word.

Working Environment:

Office and outside environment with potential to support austere locations.

Physical Activities:

Must be able to lift / carry 75 lbs.


Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

  • High School Diploma

Experience / Skills:

  • 5 years with High School Diploma.
  • Experience supporting large, complex network modernizations.

Clearance Requirement:

  • This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier 3) level clearance.

Skills & Technology Used:

  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and AutoCAD drawings, specifically rack elevation drawings and floor plans to install data network equipment hardware, power supplies, UPS, and wireless access points.
  • Proficient with writing reports and updating data in MS Excel and Word.
