The
Landscape Installer
is part of a
travelling team
that supports
Medxcel
the person must be based out of one of our designated working locations of
Indianapolis, IN ; Wichita, KS; Birmingham, AL; Jacksonville, FL; or Austin, TX
This individual will travel to various Medxcel Facilities to install landscaping, per a design or the site leader’s instructions. This individual will also perform some routine maintenance work as needed in various locations. The position must be able to operate a variety of equipment and has a working knowledge of horticultural practices, woody and perennial plants cultural requirements and pest management. The position must also understand all basic maintenance requirements of Medxcel Facilities hardscape elements including an understanding of irrigation principles.
Responsibilities
Administrative & Training
Ability to understand and utilize the MedxcelFacilities Management Landscaping Handbook to execute the plan to achieve success
Plans and organizes projects and implementations, ensuring that sufficientresources and materials are available, and completes it in the most time-efficient manner.
Designs and develops landscaping plans according to needs of facilities
Ensures all work is completed in adherence to safety policies and guidelines.
Conducts weekly safety training and safety inspections on job-sites
Ensures that competing tasks at each facility are organized and completed on a priority basis and within the parameters established.
Considers improvements to facilities and makes recommendations to management
Maintains proper inventory of materials, equipment and other supplies are on hand to complete production activities
Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and / or gathering information required to perform job functions
General Landscaping
Performs a wide variety of horticultural tasks to ensure an attractive landscape and an optimal level of plant health, including weed control, certain perennial cultural practices, pruning, pest treatments, and other routine lawn-care activities
May repair, replace, and / or clean brick pavers; replace dead or damaged plant material, noting probable cause of decline; repair or replace low-voltage lighting; service fountains or garden ponds; perform minor repairs on irrigation
Operates a variety of mechanical equipment including but not limited to mowers, back hoes, bobcats, dingos, tillers, sod cutters, weed eaters, plant augers, chain saws, and drills
Operates non-CDL automatic and manual vehicles, such as dump trucks and truck and trailer combinations
Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including work site and equipment
Chemical Treatments
Diagnoses pest issues, makes recommendations, and / or takes remedial action as directed by standard company policy or management. Diagnoses other site problems and makes recommendations for their improvement
Applies chemicals under the direction of licensed custom applicator
Special Projects
Assist and participate in touch up painting during the winter season
Assist and support the Facilities Maintenance staff on projects as assigned
Qualifications
Education :
An Associatedegree in Horticulture, Maintenance, Business or related field, or 7+ years’ experience in landscape design or leadership required
A Bachelor degree in related field preferred
License / Certification :
State Driver’s License and insurable with company’s agent required
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
Experience :
At least 5 years’ experiencein landscaping required
At least 3 years supervisory experience required
Previous project / landscape management and project supervision required
Ability to travel, by airplane and by automobile to facilities across the country to complete specific projects.
50% -75% travel required (Road Warrior)
Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently.
Strong oral communication skills, job planning skills, and mechanical aptitude are a must.
Strong knowledge of standard horticultural practices including paver, pond, low-voltage lighting and irrigation troubleshooting.
Strong supervisor skills, be a self-starter, trainer and able to lead groups / team of at least two to complete projects
