We are a fast growing small animal veterinary group with 2 hospitals. Our hospitals also have a full time or part time position available with the possibility of mixed (food animal) only if candidate want to explore that option. Located in Turlock(Large animal) Newman and Patterson, CA(small animal hospitals).
Candidate should be able to work independently, practice excellent medicine and possess great communications skills. Experience is a plus, but new graduates are welcome to apply. We offer a competitive salary with complete benefit package ( FT position) including health insurance, production bonuses, 401K, license fee reimbursement, CE reimbursement and 2 weeks paid vacations. We are currently offering $5,000 sign up bonus for FT position!
We open 6 days a week, closed on Sundays-Small animal only.
- Key Responsibilities :
- Diagnosis and Treatment :
- Examine animals to diagnose health issues and injuries.
- Order and perform diagnostic tests such as blood tests, X-rays, and ultrasounds.
- Prescribe and administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations to animals.
- Treat illnesses, infections, injuries, and other health conditions.
- Surgical Procedures :
- Perform surgeries such as spaying, neutering, and other procedures expected during GP.
- Monitor animal patients during and after surgery to ensure their safety and recovery.
- Provide post-operative care, including administering medications and offering advice on recovery protocols.
- Preventive Care :
- Provide vaccinations and preventive treatments to protect animals from disease.
- Advise pet owners on proper nutrition, hygiene, and care practices to promote animal health.
- Develop health care plans for pets, including wellness exams and routine check-ups.
- Animal Care and Nursing :
- Oversee the care of hospitalized animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercise.
- Supervise veterinary technicians and assistants in the care and handling of animals.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Communication with Pet Owners :
- Advise pet owners on the health, treatment, and welfare of their animals.
- Educate owners on pet care, including diet, exercise, grooming, and behavior.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to pet owners during difficult times (e.g., when a pet is terminally ill or has passed away).
- Emergency Care :
- Provide emergency medical treatment to animals, especially during after-hours emergencies.(Only on Large animal ER hours)
- Assist in critical care situations for animals with serious conditions or injuries.
- Administration and Record-Keeping :
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records for each patient.
- Ensure that all treatments, diagnoses, and surgeries are properly documented and comply with legal and professional standards.
- Manage inventory of medications, medical supplies, and equipment.
- Collaboration and Continuing Education :
- Work closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, and other staff to provide high-quality care.
- Participate in continuing education and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in veterinary medicine.
- Required Skills and Qualifications :
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Strong knowledge of animal health, diseases, and treatments.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and staff.
- Compassion and empathy for animals and their owners.
- Ability to handle stressful situations, including emergency medical cases.
- Physical stamina to work long hours and handle animals of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
