Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring recent CVICU and telemetry expertise, BLS / ACLS (AHA), and proficiency with Epic and NextStage CVVH.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Cardiothoracic ICU within a hospital setting
  • Provide care for patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgeries, heart or lung transplants, and utilizing advanced medical devices
  • Unit is acuity adaptable and may involve handling complex, high-acuity patients
  • Use of NextStage CVVH machine and Epic charting system is required
  • Day and night shifts, 12 hours each (7 : 00-19 : 30 or 19 : 00-07 : 30), with every other weekend and some holiday shifts required
  • No on-call responsibilities are required
  • Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to multiple units or locations within the health system based on staffing needs
  • Deliver specialized nursing care for patients following complex cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures and transplants
  • Participate as an integral team member focused on high-quality, patient and family-centered care using advanced technology
  • Strict pass / fail telemetry exam required, including identification of lethal rhythms, with up to two initial attempts and further instruction required if unsuccessful
  • Orientation is provided, typically lasting one week and based at the main hospital campus; details will be communicated in advance
  • First-time travelers may be considered for some units
  • Holiday coverage is expected as assigned by the unit
  • Parking onsite requires a permit, with alternative transportation options available

  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license from permanent address state is required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association are required
  • Minimum of two years of acute care RN experience in CVICU within the last three years is required
  • Experience with NextStage CVVH machine is required
  • Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
  • Basic arrhythmia and telemetry monitoring competency required; must pass a telemetry test prior to starting
  • Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the primary work site location
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
