Infection Preventionist II

Job Description

ChristianaCare is looking for an Infection Preventionist to work in a collaborative manner with all members of the healthcare system and community. The Infection Preventionist implements a system- wide infection prevention program aimed at supporting patient safety initiatives and provides education for staff, patients and visitors in the principles, policies and procedures related to infection prevention.

Work Hours : Day Shift with scheduled On-call requirement.

Location : ChristianaCare Cecil Campus with some travel to Newark and Wilmington campuses as needed.

Responsibilities :

Performs surveillance related to infections and communicable diseases for Christiana Care.

Identifies trends, clusters, outbreaks or areas of concern and prepares action plans as appropriate.

Implements approved action plans, working with departmental managers; monitors results until areas of concern are resolved.

Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports for specific departments , Infection Prevention and Performance Improvement Committees, and others as required

Receives calls as needed on weekends, nights, and holidays regarding Infection Prevention issues, i.e., patient placement, isolation precautions, equipment / environmental cleaning / disinfection. Will be on-call when assigned.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in nursing, medical laboratory technology, or related healthcare field and a minimum of 3 years' experience is required.

Experience in infection prevention and knowledge of principles of epidemiology and infectious diseases preferred.

Management, supervisory and / or experience as a health care educator preferred.

Special Requirements : CBIC certification (CIC) preferred on hire. CBIC required within 2 years of hire as an Infection Preventionist.

Annual Compensation Range $85,862.40 - $137,384.00

This pay rate / range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
