Data Analytics Analyst

Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Data Analytics Analyst to join our growing data engineering team. In this role, you will support client analytics engagements by assisting with data processing, analysis, and validation activities under the guidance of senior team members. You will work closely with advisory and delivery teams to help load, analyze, and interpret large and complex datasets across a variety of client environments.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, professional services environment.

Responsibilities

• Support analytics work for one to two concurrent client engagements, completing assigned tasks and deliverables under the direction of senior team members.

• Assist in identifying business questions and the analytics required to support client insights.

• Load, analyze, and profile client data to understand data quality, structure, and transformation needs.

• Participate in client data calls to understand data requirements and document inputs, questions, and follow-ups.

• Use Python and Azure Databricks to support one-time client data loads into proprietary tools during early project phases.

• Assist delivery teams in creating and running analyses on large, complex datasets.

• Partner with advisory team members to support hypothesis development and validation through analytics.

• Document technical requirements and support senior team members in defining automation needs for client data pipelines.

• Support the Data Automation team by clarifying requirements, testing outputs, and validating data accuracy.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to help resolve data-related questions, issues, and basic technical challenges.

• Assist in reviewing the scope, effort, and complexity of assigned analytics tasks.

• Troubleshoot and escalate data issues, bugs, or inconsistencies with guidance from senior team members.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field. Four (4) years of directly relevant experience as a Database Developer, ETL Developer, BI Developer or equivalent role may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Work Experience

Minimum:

Relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data consulting gained through employment, coursework, academic research, or internships.

Preferred:

One (1) year of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related field, working directly with clients in a professional services environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Minimum:

• Ability to perform root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Understanding of core data concepts – schemas, storage methods, data types, basics of matrix mathematics.
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages such as Python
• Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
• Exceptional work ethic, judgment, business acumen, attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts and present to senior-level executives.

Preferred:

• Thorough understanding of core pricing concepts – price measurement, modeling fundamentals, price/margin walks, peer grouping, customer/product hierarchies, indexing, etc.
• Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
• Ability to mentor, teach, and lead others.
• Working knowledge and experience with Azure data ecosystem including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, and other components.
