As a Software Tester supporting the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND), you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and operational readiness of mission-critical software. You will collaborate with software developers and system engineers across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and actively participate in in-person testing engagements with customer Test and Evaluation (T&E) teams. This includes planning and executing Developmental Testing (DT), supporting formal test events, and contributing to the overall review and validation of integrated systems in representative operational environments. Your efforts will directly support system readiness, risk reduction, and mission success.
Core Testing Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for new and existing functionality
Perform functional, regression, integration, system, user acceptance (UAT), and performance testing to ensure system stability and quality
Conduct operational testing and verify post-deployment functionality across environments
Ensure quality gates are met for all releases, including infrastructure, application code, and configurations
Automation and CI / CD Integration
Develop and maintain automated test suites integrated into CI / CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
Implement and optimize continuous testing strategies for microservices and containerized workloads
Use frameworks like Cypress, Selenium, Postman, REST-assured, or K6 for end-to-end and API testing
Container and Kubernetes Testing
Design and execute test plans for microservices-based applications deployed on Kubernetes clusters
Validate containerized deployments using tools like kubectl, Helm, and Kustomize
Test Kubernetes configurations including YAMLs, ConfigMaps, Secrets, volumes, service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd), and network policies
Data and Knowledge Management
Conduct data quality assessments and validate ETL pipelines where relevant
Contribute to improving data governance, test data management, and analytics tooling
Collaboration and Communication
Serve as a technical consultant to development, security, and DevOps teams
Work with stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, success metrics, and test environment requirements
Present test results and quality trends to both technical and non-technical audiences, including customer stakeholders
Onsite Test and Evaluation Support
Collaborate directly with customer Test and Evaluation (T&E) teams to plan, execute, and document Developmental Testing (DT) events
Participate in structured test events at customer facilities to assess system functionality, reliability, and readiness in real-world or representative environments
Support test readiness reviews (TRRs), system verification reviews (SVRs), and formal test events, ensuring accurate data collection and issue triage
Provide detailed findings reports and briefings to customer stakeholders, capturing observed defects, risks, and operational insights
Assist in the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of test environments to mirror operational conditions and constraints

Working Environment :
Job duties will be performed full-time in an office environment with 50% or more of the time in a stationary position.
Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, and printer.

Qualifications
Education / Certifications :
Minimum : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (BSCS), Information Technology, Software Engineering, or other related fields.
Preferred but not required : Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or other related fields
Certified DevSecOps Professional (CDP)
CompTIA Security+
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE
Experience :
2-4 years of professional experience in software testing or QA
Strong hands-on experience testing applications deployed in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
Proficient in creating and maintaining automated test frameworks and integrating tests into CI / CD pipelines
Experience validating Kubernetes deployments, YAML files, secrets / configs, and using tools like Helm and kubectl
Deep understanding of API testing, web app testing, and performance / load testing
Familiarity with microservices architecture, service discovery, and distributed system testing strategies
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their basic services
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including DevOps, SRE, security, and developers
Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and tools like Terraform, with a focus on testing and validating infrastructure changes
Basic scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python) for test setup or environment scripting
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders
