The Division of Engineering is responsible for providing recommendations pertaining to technical issues coming before the Commission. Issues may include evaluation of engineering capital cost estimates and actual utility plant expenditures, establishment of adequate margins of reserve, and analysis of operating and maintenance costs. Additionally, the Division is responsible for cost-effectiveness determinations, taking into consideration the impacts on Florida's consumers, regulated industries, and the regulatory environment.
Description of Job Duties : This position is one of several technical advisory positions within the Florida Public Service Commission. As such, this position requires the review and analysis of petitions filed by regulated utilities in order to prepare written recommendations. Such recommendations are subsequently presented by the staff member for consideration by the five Public Service Commissioners at public meetings. A qualified candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate orally and in writing technical information in a clear and concise manner; prepare spreadsheets, graphs, and other visual aids to assist in presenting such information and manage workload to ensure that deadlines are met.
Minimum Qualifications : Four years of relevant work experience in the area of accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, public administration, business administration or economics is required. An associate degree and two years of relevant work experience OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university may be used as an alternative for the years of required experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Special consideration will be given to applicants with the ability to review, analyze and evaluate data and who are able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
