We are looking Peer advisors / Assistants to serve our Yreka community.

Reporting to the Program Supervisor or Program Manager, the Peer Assistant will support individuals on their journey to recovery and wellness. Peer Assistants support a range of services aimed at fostering physical, emotional, and mental well-being in a supportive and inclusive environment. Peer Assistants play a vital role in providing support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals striving to achieve their recovery goals. Drawing from their own lived experience Peer Assistants will serve as a role model and advocate, helping clients navigate challenges and celebrate successes along the way.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Peer Support : Offer empathetic listening and understanding to individuals participating in recovery programs.
• Provide peer counseling and mentoring on a one-to-one basis, either over the telephone or in person.
• Role Modeling : Share personal experiences of recovery and wellness to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
• Advocacy : Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the wellness center and the broader community.
• Resource Navigation : Assist clients in accessing relevant resources, such as support groups, employment assistance, and educational opportunities.
• Provide linkage to crisis services if appropriate.
• Educate peers / families about coping skills and self-care strategies.
• Documentation : Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress, adhering to confidentiality and privacy protocols.
• Collaboration : Work collaboratively with other staff members, including case managers, and volunteers, to ensure holistic support for clients.
