Shift : 3rd (11 PM until 7 AM) The training for this position will be on 1st shift for approx. 3 months.
Description of a Typical Day :
The QC Shop Inspector is responsible for inspecting machined copper and aluminum electrical connectors in an active manufacturing environment. A typical day for this person involves gathering part samples from all of the machines that are in production. The inspector then checks the parts for quality defects, using hand-held gaging equipment such as calipers, thread plugs, and gage pins while referencing blueprints and other quality documentation for product specifications. After inspection, the inspector reports the results using Microsoft Excel templates and emails sent via Outlook, and also communicates the results verbally to the machine operators. The inspector serves as the main quality point-of-contact for their respective shift, and will be expected to answer quality-related questions that machine operators may have in a professional and helpful manner – good interpersonal communication skills are a must. Additionally, the inspector will provide quality training to machine operators on an as-needed basis. The inspector will also conduct gage calibrations along with general audits of the manufacturing environment for unlabeled product, and assist with receiving of raw material. On occasion, there may be other tasks requested that are within the training level and physical capabilities of the inspector.
