Sr. HMI / PLC Programmer

About the role :

WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for a position to join our team. This role will create HMI / PLC software for control and monitoring of industrial drive and starter packages using programmable logic controllers (PLC) and / or Human Machine Interface (HMI). You will create designs and documentation for control panels. These include technical product specification and software inspection plans. Design / test / install / ladder logic and / or software and provide technical support. Also design electrical power and control. PLC / HMI programmers work full time but experience a limited amount of travel and activity in the workplace, such as supervising the installation of their programs and provide commissioning assistance.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Create instruction documents specific to software development applications.
• Develop automated machine / process control systems using PLC / HMI solutions.
• Develops schematics, bill of materials and assembly drawings using AutoCAD.
• Traveling to clients' locations.
• Meeting with clients to discuss their mechanical or electrical automation needs.
• Drawing electrical or mechanical schematics to demonstrate how processes will work.
• Developing and installing machine programs using automation software and custom coding languages.
• Determining automation test criteria before the final installation.
• Testing automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability.
• Troubleshooting system errors.
• Overseeing the successful installation of PLC programs.
• Documenting development processes and operation manuals.
• Providing clients with technical support
• Working in coordination with engineering and production team.
• Adhere to best practices for documentation and version control.
• Programmers have to keep colleagues, managers, and clients in the loop as to progress and deviations from schedule or budget so as not to disturb the workflow of the whole.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.
