- Seeking a compassionate and motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join this Medical Weight Loss Program located in Elmira, NY. This program operates in conjunction with an established Surgical Weight Loss Program, but the focus of this position is non-surgical medical weight management.
- The APP will conduct initial consultations and ongoing follow-up visits for patients seeking weight loss support through lifestyle changes and evidence-based medical therapies, including the use of GLP-1 receptor agonists and other approved medications. The provider will collaborate closely with the bariatric surgery team but will not provide surgical care or perioperative assessments.
Primary Responsibilities :
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations for medical weight loss eligibility.Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, including medication-assisted weight loss.Prescribe, monitor, and adjust GLP-1 and other weight loss medications as clinically indicated.Monitor and manage patient progress through regular follow-up visits, providing education and support.Collaborate with specialty pharmacy services to ensure timely medication authorization and access.Coordinate care with the surgical weight loss program, especially for post-bariatric patients entering the medical weight loss pathway.Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).Engage in patient education and motivational interviewing to support sustainable lifestyle modifications.Participate in team meetings and continuous quality improvement efforts for the program.Qualifications :
Licensure : Current licensure in New York State as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.Experience : Prior experience as an NP / PA provider is required. Experience in weight management, endocrinology, or bariatric care is a plus.Certifications : National board certification as an NP or PA; current BLS required.Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently within a collaborative care model.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient engagement skills.Work Schedule :
