Vegetation Manager

This is a second level management position in the Electric Transmission and Distribution Organization (Vegetation Management). Must be willing to respond outside of normal hours; this position is Exempt and generally, hours worked beyond 40 hours in a workweek are not eligible for extra compensation. As an employee of (PSE&G or PSEG LI), you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations. Job Responsibilities

Prepare, initiate, and execute budgets, financial forecasts, work schedules, and regulatory programs for the workforce (PSE&G and contractor). Coordinate contractor activities / oversight efforts, establish and deploy required training, and review performance through the completion of contractor quality assessments and site inspections to ensure the work is being completed in compliance with required procedures and established regulatory requirements. Achieve the desired results through the use of PSEG values and tools, sound management practices and skills and a total commitment to teamwork. Oversee the activities of the Transmission Vegetation Management workforce (PSE&G and contractor) to ensure safe and efficient activities of outside plant facilities. Promote safety principles. Assign and direct work to accomplish the desired results in a safe, efficient and expeditious manner. Manage vegetation work related to the construction of all outside plant electric transmission and / or distribution facilities. Assist in the training and development of personnel. Counsel associates, as required, and handle First Step Grievance meetings. Ability to layout / supervise the work of others. As needed, train / instruct personnel in work practices and use of tools and equipment. Must assist electric divisions in the emergency response for major events.

Job Specific Qualifications

B.S. in Forestry or Arboriculture or at least 5 yrs of utility forestry management. Be a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture. Be a Utility Specialist with the International Society of Arboriculture. Be a NJ Licensed Tree Expert (LTE) or must obtain NJ Tree Expert License within 36 months of start date. Knowledge of local, state and federal environmental compliance requirements regarding utility vegetation management in New Jersey. Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations applicable to Transmission Vegetation Maintenance. Knowledge of applicable ANSI, OSHA, and Best Management Practices regarding utility line clearance vegetation management activities. Experience with working with Collective Bargaining Agreements. Experience managing contractors. Have a valid US driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Extensive knowledge of applicable portions of Company / Union agreement. Must have ability to recognize unusual conditions and take corrective action. Must have knowledge of Utility Line Clearance operations, equipment and procedures regarding contractor and internal line clearance and vegetation management personnel. Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
