We’re seeking a Controller that will be a pivotal, hands-on financial leader responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of the company's financial records.
This strategic role is primarily focused on managing, directing, and reviewing the work of our external, fractional accounting and bookkeeping team, ensuring strong internal controls, effective financial planning, and compliance as the company scales.
Salary :
- $125,000 - $150,000 Location : Remote in the U.S Applicants must reside in the U.S. and be legally authorized to work without the need for employer sponsorship.
- WHO YOU ARE 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of general ledger, revenue recognition, and financial reporting functions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment —startup or SaaS / adtech experience is highly valued.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison with the outsourced fractional accounting and bookkeeping team.
- Deep understanding of revenue models common to adtech , including programmatic media buying, pass-through costs, and digital advertising margins.
- Skilled in managing month-end close , financial statement preparation , and audit readiness .
- Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate processes that improve accuracy, scalability, and compliance.
- Experience with billing automation , ERP / financial systems , and data integrations across platforms such as QuickBooks, Rippling, Salesforce, and Carta.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial results, comparing actual performance to budget and prior periods, specifically focusing on key advertising industry metrics (e.g., Gross Margin, Client Acquisition Cost, Revenue Per Employee).
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers; ensure all supporting documentation and schedules are readily available and accurate.
- Oversee the preparation for all federal, state, and local tax filings - employment and sales tax.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across Finance, Sales, HR, and Leadership.
- Prepare periodic financial forecasts and cash flow projections to support strategic decision-making.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently in a remote environment.
- WHAT YOU'LL DO Oversee day-to-day accounting operations , including general ledger management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close.
- Manage adtech-specific revenue processes, ensuring accuracy in campaign spend, vendor reconciliations, and client billing.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles , producing accurate and timely financial statements.
- Prepare and analyze financial results to identify trends, optimize spend, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls , compliance protocols, and risk management strategies aligned with GAAP and audit requirements.
- Partner with an external team to support cash flow forecasting , budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Support and contribute to external audits , lender reporting , and board-level financial reporting .
- Drive the implementation and optimization of financial systems to improve efficiency and reporting scalability.
- Manage payroll processing, tax filings, and reconciliations in coordination with HR and external partners.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally with Sales and Client Success to align billing and revenue processes with Choozle’s omnichannel business model.
- Provide financial and strategic support for company initiatives, M&A evaluations, and business model evolution.
- Serve as a key finance partner across departments to support operational excellence and growth initiatives.
