Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of mobile equipment used in mining operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring safe production, site maintenance, and continuous improvement of daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively operate front-end loaders, dozers, haul trucks, and / or excavators .
  • Perform routine pre- and post-operation inspections and basic maintenance on mobile and plant equipment.
  • Follow all York Building Products safety policies and procedures .
  • Maintain clear communication with co-workers, supervisors, and customers in a professional and respectful manner .
  • Demonstrate situational awareness , problem-solving ability, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist with general site duties and perform other tasks as assigned by management.

    • Qualifications & Experience

  • Prior experience operating heavy equipment required; mining or quarry experience preferred.
  • Must be safety-focused with the ability to read, understand, and follow company and regulatory safety procedures.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and in all weather conditions .
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team .

    • Work Environment

  • Work performed outdoors and / or in plant environments , subject to exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, and other elements.
  • Must be capable of operating heavy machinery safely in active mining conditions .
  • Requires adherence to all YBP Safety and PPE standards .

    • Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds .
  • Must be physically capable of performing essential job functions safely and efficiently.

  • Supervisory Status : Non-Supervisory
