Job Title : HVAC Controls Technician

Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Controls Technician to install, program, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, DDC (Direct Digital Controls), and energy management systems used in commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Install, program, and calibrate HVAC control systems including sensors, controllers, actuators, and related components.
  • Read and interpret HVAC control wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Troubleshoot and repair control system components and communication networks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics on control systems and components.
  • Interface with building automation systems (e.g., Johnson Controls, Trane, Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider Electric).
  • Assist in the commissioning of HVAC systems and ensure proper functionality.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
  • Document service and installation activities and update system drawings as needed.
  • Provide customer training and support on system operations and maintenance.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, electronics, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in HVAC controls, building automation, or related field.
  • Familiarity with DDC systems and protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, meters, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments (rooftops, mechanical rooms, etc.).

  • Niagara AX / N4 Certification
