REPORTS TO : Superintendent of SchoolsSALARY RANGE : 145K - 160K per year depending on experienceWORK YEAR : 12 months Individual ContractQUALIFICATIONS : Masters Degree in Educational Leadership / Administration (advancedgraduate study preferred) Possession of a valid Massachusetts Assistant Principal / Principal License at the highschool level At least five years of experience as an administrator At least seven years of successful experience as a teacher at the high school level Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools deemsappropriate and acceptablePOSITION SUMMARY : The Principal of Stoughton High School serves as the chief educational administrator for theschool assuming full responsibility for all aspects of the school program. The Principal willdevelop implement supervise and evaluate the total learning experience for high schoolstudents and provide educational leadership to the staff students and principals demonstrate strong leadership problem-solving and emotionalintelligence skills are accessible to all stakeholders and stay current in educational trendsstate and federal laws and data-driven decision-making in order to ensure their students RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to) : Instructional Leadership Leads the development implementation and evaluation of a rigorous engagingprogram of studies aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the SHSPortrait of a Graduate. Establishes yearly measurable goals for the school. Progress towards these goals willbe reviewed periodically and a written report forwarded to the Superintendent ofSchools. Uses data analysis (MCAS AP performance attendance graduation rates) to informschool improvement efforts and ensure academic growth for all students. Assists in the planning and implementation of professional development often inconjunction with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Technology andother school administrators in pursuit of goals identified in the District Strategic analyzes and applies research findings and data to promote schoolimprovement. Regularly attends professional development offerings as a means of enhancing theschools capacity to deliver evidence based instruction and maintain high academicand behavioral standards. Implements curriculum changes in conjunction with the district directors and theAssistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Technology. Monitors instructional andmanagerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to programoutcomes and utilizes findings to take corrective actions. Holds regular meetings of all instructional staff to keep them informed and advised ofduties policies and possible curriculum changes. Attends all administrative meetings and implements program suggestions or Culture and Community Relations Fosters a positive and inclusive school environment that promotes high expectationsa sense of belonging and addresses the social-emotional needs of students. Guides and encourages the schools professional staff in its educational work andprofessional growth. Communicates and promotes standards and high expectationsfor high-level performance to staff and students. Recognizes excellence andachievement. Fosters collegiality and team building among staff members. Demonstratesprofessional ethical and responsible behavior. Serves as a role model for all staff. Maintains open and consistent communication with parents community members andstaff through various mediums (newsletters meetings school events School Council). Oversees student services special education programs (in accordance with state andfederal regulations like IDEA and Section 504) ELL and student discipline. Regularly attends extracurricular events including but not limited to athletics fine artsshowcases ceremonies and community / district sponsored Management and Operations Recruits hires assigns supervises and evaluates all professional and support staff. Creates implements monitors and reports on Improvement Plans as needed. Sets high expectations for learning and behavior through mutual understandingparent cooperation and reasonable consequences for not meeting school and districtbehavioral expectations. Ensures that school expectations are consistently observedand that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with StudentHandbooks and School Committee Policy. Develops implements and monitors the schools operating and student activitiesbudgets ensuring resources are aligned with priorities. Oversees the daily use maintenance and safety of school facilities includingdeveloping and implementing emergency and security plans. Ensures that accurate records for all students including cumulative records gradesattendance etc. are kept in accordance with State and Federal records regulations. Completes all state and local reports and surveys in a timely manner. Establishes and manages the master schedule class lists and supervision schedulesfor staff and studentsThe High School Principal also assumes other duties and responsibilities as delegated bythe Superintendent of SchoolsThe performance responsibilities listed above are intended to describe the general natureand level of work being performed in this role and not as an exhaustive list of allresponsibilities and duties required of those in this position.
