Compensation & Schedule
A Day in the Life
You clock in on first shift and start with a complex electrical complaint on a fleet vehicle. You trace circuits with a wiring diagram, verify grounds, and isolate the fault. By mid-morning, you’re rewiring a section of harness and confirming the repair with a clean voltage drop test. After lunch, you dive into mechanical work—replacing bearings and axle seals, resurfacing brake drums and rotors, and fitting a new brake master cylinder. The afternoon brings component work : disassembling and inspecting parts, then rebuilding water and fuel pumps, servicing A / C compressors and radiators, and aligning brakes and suspension components.
Across the week, you’ll diagnose issues in every system, overhaul gasoline and diesel engines, perform diesel tunes and repairs, and keep hydraulic systems reliable by routing and replacing lines and checking for leaks. Preventive maintenance is part of the rhythm too—changing fluids, checking lights and other electrical components, and swapping exhaust system parts as needed. And when priorities shift, you’re ready to jump in on other duties as assigned.
