Electrical / Mechanical Design Engineer.

Overview

The Electromechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and support of electronic and mechanical systems for precision laboratory instrumentation. This includes analog and digital circuit design, PCB layout, system integration, and component selection, with an emphasis on reliability, safety, and performance in scientific and industrial applications. The role also involves circuit simulation, mechanical prototyping, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Both electrical and mechanical drawing is essential. Working closely with mechanical engineers, software developers, technicians, and scientists, the Electromechanical Design Engineer will contribute to creating innovative, high-performance tools that advance research and diagnostics.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES :

• Creating and testing electrical circuits for new products or systems, ensuring they meet safety and functionality standards.
• Designing electrical and mechanical systems for machinery, considering efficiency, cost, and safety.
• Using computer-aided design (CAD) software to design mechanical and electrical systems.
• Choosing mechanical and electrical components based on project specifications.
• Building and testing prototypes of systems or devices to evaluate performance and identify potential issues.
• Identifying and resolving electrical issues during development or in existing systems.
• Using simulation software to predict how electrical systems will perform under different conditions.
• Working with other engineers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure a smooth workflow and alignment on project goals.
• Maintaining clear and accurate documentation of design specifications, test results, and updates.
• Diagnosing and fixing electrical failures or malfunctions in equipment or systems.
• Recommending and implementing system upgrades to improve efficiency, performance, and safety.
• Ensuring designs and installations comply with local, national, and international electrical codes and regulations (e.g., IEEE, NEC).
• Designing systems with safety in mind, ensuring electrical installations minimize risks like electrical shock, fires, and equipment failure.
• Conducting risk assessments for potential electrical hazards and addressing them proactively.
• Researching emerging technologies in fields like robotics, automation, renewable energy, or telecommunications.
• Working on improving existing products by developing new methods, materials, or technologies.
• Offering post-installation support for troubleshooting or system upgrades.
• Keeping up with the latest technological advancements, standards, and best practices in electrical engineering.
