Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN with strong emergency and ventilator management skills for a 12-hour night shift position at an off-campus ED in WA.
Responsibilities
Work in a 10-bed off-campus emergency department with additional hallway treatment spacesPatient population includes neonates to geriatrics, with 25% pediatric cases and frequent trauma including GSWsAverage daily census ranges from 60 to 110 patients depending on ED siteRN patient ratios typically 1 : 4, with fast track assignment up to 1 : 6 with team nursing supportShifts are 12 hours, primarily nights, with rotating weekends and potential to float between multiple ED locationsNo RT onsite; RNs are responsible for managing ventilators and BiPAP after provided trainingEPIC is used for charting; experience is preferredRequired to float to other OCED sites based on facility needs and may be reassigned as primary site changesRNs expected to perform charge nurse duties with training provided as neededLPNs and phlebotomy staff provide team support, but RNs are primary for most blood draws and medication mixingNo on-site respiratory therapy or pharmacy support; pharmacy oversight via video conferenceMultiCare is currently accepting only medical or religious exemption requests for vaccinationsInitial orientation includes hospital and unit onboarding, with dedicated respiratory care trainingFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyAny solid color scrubs may be wornFree parking is providedHoliday coverage requirements are negotiableUp to 5 days off may be approved with requests beyond that needing manager approvalBlock scheduling is not guaranteedRequirements
Active WA or compact state RN license required (can submit with proof of application for licensure)Minimum 2 years of full-time, true ED experience required; 5 years required for CAP rolesCurrent BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications requiredProficient in emergency nursing skills, medication administration, managing chest tubes, central lines, and strong IV skillsMust be willing to provide ventilator and BiPAP care after onboarding trainingTelemetry competency exam required prior to startStrong customer service skills requiredBenefits
